Dans un très court communiqué, la Maison Blanche a estimé que le départ de James Comey «permettra à l’agence de prendre un nouveau départ». Donald Trump explique que ce limogeage fait suite à une recommandation du ministre de la Justice Jeff Sessions. Ce dernier reproche à James Comey d’avoir mal géré l’enquête sur les emails d’Hillary Clinton.
